In today's episode of The Donkey and the Bee, we dive into a powerful perspective shift: stress isn't something to avoid — it's something to embrace. Whether it’s in your business, relationships, or personal growth, stress is a key ingredient to pushing past barriers and leveling up in all aspects of life.

We all face stressful seasons — in fact, right now, we're in one ourselves, juggling two businesses that require constant attention and growth. But we don't view this stress as a burden. Instead, we see it as an opportunity for growth. Stress is the adrenaline that pushes us forward, preparing us for bigger challenges and greater success.

While many people try to avoid stress, we believe it's essential for our development. Stress wakes you up, gives you the energy to tackle obstacles, and shows you that you're on the right path. Think of it as the body’s natural preparation for battle, much like how our ancestors faced the stress of hunting for food. They had no choice but to rise to the challenge, and that survival instinct fueled their progress.

In business, stress often feels like a massive mountain, an obstacle too big to overcome. But as we’ve experienced firsthand, the more you face these challenges and push through, the easier they become. Once you’ve tackled a stressor several times, it no longer holds the same power over you. It becomes second nature, and eventually, what once seemed impossible becomes a routine part of your life.

This concept can be applied in every aspect of your life — whether it’s financial stress, communication issues in your relationship, or the pressures of growing a business. We’ve faced these struggles ourselves. In the beginning, having open conversations about finances was daunting. But now, after countless discussions, it’s no longer stressful. The key is consistent practice.

One of our most significant growth moments happened when we started our first house-flipping business. The first few projects were full of anxiety, uncertainty, and challenges. But fast forward a few years, and our operations became systemized and scaled to a point where it was no longer stressful. Now, we buy multiple houses a month, and I don’t even see them — the stress has gone from overwhelming to manageable.

Reflecting on this process, I realized something important: once you push past initial barriers, your future self will look back at those struggles and laugh. The problems that seemed so big will be tiny in comparison to what you’re tackling now. And the next set of challenges will feel like another stepping stone, not a roadblock.

So if you’re facing stress in your life, whether it’s in your business, your finances, or your relationships, don’t shy away from it. Lean into it. Know that this stress is pushing you to grow, become more resilient, and prepare you for the bigger challenges ahead.

You’ll encounter new challenges down the road — bigger, more complex, and sometimes more daunting — but by then, you’ll have the skills and experience to handle them. Keep pushing through, and remember: stress is a sign that you’re on the right track.
